GAHA MarComm team - Recruitment
May 26th, 2011
The MarComm team is looking for volunteer photographers and writers for our newsletter, Grapevine. Read on!
We are looking for volunteer photographers who can assist to cover various NYAA events throughout 2011. Commitment is minimal as you are only required to volunteer for events that you are available for. The required duration of commitment for each event varies but we will try to break up the events into ‘bite-sized shifts’ if they are longer than 4-5 hours.
Number of photographers required will depend on the scale of the event. It does not matter whether you have done photography for 5 days or for 5 years – we are looking for passion more than anything else.
Photographs will be used for the GAHA and NYAA websites, newsletter and Facebook page to keep members informed of the events organized and supported by GAHA and NYAA Council. They say a picture speaks a thousand words, so let’s help to make GAHA’s updates more exciting!
Credits will be given if your photos are used. There are no promises of glamour and fame but it will be a great chance to hone your creative skills while making new friends.
Grapevine is currently looking to recruit new writers. The commitment level is relatively low and the writers will only need to attend the allocated event (As a general rule of thumb, writers will be allocated to events that they are already volunteering/participating in. If the writer is not participating in any of the events, the writer will be asked to go for the event and run an article on it based on the peg and angle given). After the event, the writer will submit the article to the marketing committee for editing purposes. Writers are not required to attend any marketing committee meetings (but if you do want to step up your involvement, you are of course more than welcome).
The arrangement for Grapevine writers is relatively flexible as writers do not have to commit to a certain number of articles every quarter/year. As and when required, the marketing committee will send an email to writers who are interested in writing for Grapevine to ask if they are interested in covering an upcoming event when there are no writers participating in that event.
Writers will be given due recognition and will be credited for the articles. If you are aspiring to do freelance writing or write in the near future, this will be a good platform to get started. What’s more, you will be able to build your portfolio from here.
If you are interested, please email marcomm@nyaagaha.org with your name, email address, mobile number, area of interest (photography or Grapevine or both) and, if possible, an indication of your intended level of commitment.
We are looking to receive your emails on a rolling basis, and we look forward to hearing from you.
